            GM has introduced a new and innovative way to shop for, and purchase your next vehicle, and we’re proud to be one of the first to participate in this unique program. It’s called Shop, Click, Drive; and it puts you completely in the driver’s seat from the beginning to the end of the purchasing process.

             Imagine this: you’re looking for a new Chevrolet Impala. You come to www.edentonmotors.com , and find the vehicle that you’d like to buy. You are presented with the vehicle description with options etc. All you need to do now is click on the “Create Your Deal” button to get started, or view the Shop, Click, Drive Video tour for step by step directions.


 

The first step is Get Started – you select the vehicle you want and you’re presented with the “Internet Price” of that vehicle. You also indicate your zip code for any applicable discounts and rebates; whether you have a GM Credit Card to take advantage of any savings that you have to apply to the purchase of your vehicle; and whether or not you have a trade in.

             If you have a trade in you’ll be presented with an initial estimate of the value of you trade in. The next screen offers several options for financing or leasing the vehicle and provides you with the information as to what your monthly payment will be based on your selections. You can also click on the “My Deal” icon at the top of the page to see the details of your deal including tax, tags, and title.

 

 

            You can then opt to apply for financing online. With approved financing you can then schedule a time to take delivery of your new vehicle. All of this from the comfort of your home!! Of course, at any time that’s convenient for you, you can speak to or correspond with a dealership employee; schedule a test drive; etc. and at all times you are in control.

Holiday Traditions

 

 

          A big part of the Christmas season, for me, is the various traditions that have become a part of enjoying, and sharing this special time of year. Everyone and every organization has their own unique and distinct ways of celebrating the various holiday’s that they commemorate.

 

            Here at Edenton Motors one of our traditions is to put up and decorate our Angel Tree. Along with all the lights, bulbs, and decorations, our tree is also adorned with tags that have a child’s name and some of the wishes that they have for Christmas presents under their Christmas tree. Partnering with the Salvation Army; our employees, customers, and members of the community help to provide some less fortunate child a joyful Christmas morning by picking one of these tags and fulfilling some of those wishes.

             For me, the Christmas Holiday is primarily about giving, and seeing the look of surprise and enjoyment on the faces of those whom I have the good fortune to be able to give something to. Given the support of everyone that has participated in this event in the past, I assume that they enjoy a similar pleasure in helping with this effort.

 

            It is our hope that everyone enjoys their particular traditions this Holiday season, and we invite you to perhaps add this one to your list of favorites this year – I think it could become one of your favored traditions year after year. Merry Christmas!

Black Friday is Coming!!!

 

 

 

          It’s hard to believe that Thanksgiving is less than a week away!! I’ve been planning my Thanksgiving meal for a week now, and look forward to being with family and friends – having a great meal, and watching some football. It’s definitely one of my favorite Holidays of the year. There are so many traditions associated with this truly American day of thanks.

 

            It also kicks off the shopping season for my favorite holiday – Christmas! The anticipation; looking for just the right gift; getting a really great deal; it’s all a part of the enjoyment for me. Traditionally some of the best deals are part of the initial shopping day – Black Friday. People line up for hours in advance to nail that perfect gift at the best price!

1st Trucks with a 5 Star Crash Rating

            I recently wrote about the all new Chevy Silverado, and highlighted some of the great innovations that GM has packed into this great truck. I mentioned how impressed I was with everything about it. Well, as I’ve said before, it only gets better!

           

            We don’t always think about the safety aspects of trucks because they are big, heavy, and visible. Unfortunately every motor vehicle has some likelihood of being involved in an accident. So when GM’s engineers design our vehicles they place a great deal of emphasis on the aspects surrounding safety in their formulas for a successful design.

 

            The culmination of that effort paid off for the 2014 Silverado, High Country Silverado, and the GMC Sierra and Sierra Denali. They are the first trucks to be awarded National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s 5 Star Crash rating! That’s quite an achievement considering the tests applied to the vehicle, including a frontal crash test, a side barrier crash test, and a rollover test.

             Key aspects contributing to this achievement are a fully boxed frame and an increased use of high strength steel in key areas such as the B-Pillars. Other key features focusing on safety are the forward collision alert, and the lane departure warning, and as always, if you were to be involved in an accident there is OnStar, to get assistance to you quickly.

The All New 2014 Chevy Silverado!

 

 

 

 

They’re here! The all new 2014 Chevrolet Silverado is one fine piece of work. GM’s engineers have outdone themselves again. One look and you can see the subtle but effective exterior design changes. From the powerful hood to the flared wheel wells to the rear step bumper and the EZ Lift and Lower Tailgate, the changes have been crafted to make the Silverado stand out from the crowd and be functional as well. Just look at the pictures to see some of the finer details.

 

 As far as power is concerned, there are a range of options for every need: the powerful 6.2L - V8; the 5.3L – V8; and the high torque 4.3L – V6. These powerful engines all utilize the new generation, all aluminum, EcoTec3 design which optimizes efficiency and power based on how you drive. So whether you’re towing uphill, or cruising on the highway, there’s a choice to meet all of your needs.

 

 

 

Speaking of which, the console includes 2 DC power ports; an AC outlet to power devices and charge others, as well a 3 USB ports! And then there’s the new MyLink infotainment system. It has an impressive 8.5 inch touch screen to control the audio functions, Bluetooth streaming, Navigation, XM Radio and more. This is a very intuitive system to use, and certainly a valuable option for today’s connected customer.

The all new 2014 Chevrolet Impala is here and it’s, quite simply, awe inspiring!! One look, one ride, and you’ll be hooked. The All New Buick Encore Debut!

They say that patience is a virtue, but when I know that something new is coming, my patience goes out the window! That’s just the way I am – like a kid waiting for his birthday. Well, the waiting is over…the new 2013 Buick Encore is here!! We just took delivery of the first one at our store. So, let me tell you a little about it…..

 

 

Buick knew that there was the need for a crossover SUV smaller than the impressive Enclave. Chevrolet has the Equinox, and GMC the Terrain as a compliment to the Traverse and Acadia. The Encore is considered to be a compact crossover and competes with the Nissan Juke, and Mini Cooper’s Countryman. That’s where the comparison ends.

 

The Encore delivers on all of Buick’s traditional strengths – Comfort, Luxury, and superior ride. The front cabin has plenty of room with wide seats that are comfortable even on longer rides, and they sit high enough so that there’s plenty of visibility above and around traffic. All of the materials speak to luxury with “soft-touch” accents; wood tone trim, and metallic accents.

 

What’s really impressive is the quality of the ride, which has come to be expected in a Buick. DATAXSTREAM ANNOUCES ELECTRIC CAR INCENTIVE PROGRAM

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – January 15, 2013 – DataXstream, LLC, a leading SAP® consulting and integration firm, announced the roll-out of an electric car incentive program in an effort to reward employees and embrace the ideals of green technology and energy independence.

In this program, championed by CEO Tim Yates, DataXstream covers the initial fees to lease a new electric vehicle for three years. The company also reimburses the employees for all taxes and fees to register the vehicle, provides a sufficient electronic charging infrastructure at their regional offices and pays for the installation of a Voltec 240V charger at the employee’s home.

“This incentive program allows the company to compensate our employees for their hard work and provides us the opportunity to reduce our carbon footprint,” said Yates. “It is truly a win-win situation.”

The genesis of this incentive program stems from Yates’ own experience with an electric car. In the last 12 months, Yates has driven the company’s 2011 Chevy Volt a total of 5,250 miles. 4,000 of which were electric. In that same span, he only purchased 33 gallons of gas. That is the equivalent of an astonishing 159 miles per gallon.

As part of the program, employees choose from any fully-electric or electric hybrid car on the market. All chose to lease the 2012 Chevy Volt from Edenton Motors of Edenton, North Carolina. The Volt, a gas/electric hybrid which offers 35 miles of electric power, supplemented by a traditional gas engine that provides an EPA estimated 38 mpg. Chevy boasts that Volt owners average 900 miles between fill-ups and that they’ve driven over 116,550,000 electric miles to-date.

Embracing green technology is nothing new for DataXstream, as they trumpet the virtues of IT virtualization to all of their clients. In virtualizing an IT infrastructure, companies stand to not only save on hardware and labor costs, they save on energy consumption.
